The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has completed major infrastructure works in Wuye District, 14 years after the project was first abandoned.

The project, which includes 37 kilometres of roads, 39 kilometres of stormwater drainage and sewers, and other utilities, is expected to open up the district for residential and commercial development.

Speaking during an inspection tour in Abuja, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the completion demonstrates the administration’s resolve to deliver long-delayed projects. He noted that the work covered road networks, street lighting, and drainage systems aimed at improving mobility and living standards.

Wike said the project had suffered setbacks due to poor funding and contract variations in previous years but was revived under renewed funding commitments. “This administration is determined to complete what others started. Abuja residents must see results, not excuses,” he said.

The Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmad, said the project’s completion will boost access, property development, and economic activity within the district. He added that the infrastructure now meets the standard expected in a modern city layout.

Residents expressed relief that after over a decade of waiting, the area would finally experience proper roads, streetlights, and drainage. key facilities that had delayed occupancy and investment in the district.
