AAAU Hosts “Catch Them Young” Initiative to Inspire Next Gen Aviation Professionals

The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja recently hosted a strategic career orientation event, “ Building Africa’s Next Generation of Aviation Leaders ,” aimed at inspiring secondary school students to pursue careers in aviation.

The event, held on May 20, 2025, brought together students from various schools in the Federal Capital Territory, including Aviation City International College, Government Day Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Airport, Government Secondary School Garki, and Holy Family College Kuje.

The event featured presentations by AAAU and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) experts on topics such as Opportunities in Africa, Aircraft Systems, Aviation Law, Meteorology, and Industry Manpower Challenges.

Students also gained valuable insights from AAAU students currently studying in the field.

In his welcome address, Dr. Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, Registrar AAAU, emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing young talents and bridging the skills gap in African aviation.

Mr. Aliyu Tata Azare, Director of Professional Training Programmes, reaffirmed AAAU’s commitment to guiding young minds toward impactful careers in aviation during his closing remarks.

Representatives from the FCT Secondary Education Board were also in attendance, underscoring the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industry stakeholders.
