The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, recently participated in the EasyREMO Workshop, held from February 24th to 26th, 2025, at the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

Representing AAAU were Dr. Eniola Olaniyan, Head of the Meteorology Department, and postgraduate students Mr. Tunde Atoyebi and Mr. Okanlawon.

The workshop, organized by the German Climate Service Center (GERICS) and WASCAL’s Doctorate Research Programme in West African Climate Systems (DRP-WACS), aimed to enhance understanding of climate modeling in West Africa.

Key objectives of the workshop included introducing the EasyREMO model, providing insights into climate modeling techniques, teaching data analysis methods, and facilitating regional climate change analysis.

The event focused on assessing climate change impacts on land use, agriculture, and infrastructure in West Africa, with a special emphasis on localized climate predictions using EasyREMO.
