Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Tuesday praised the leadership of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for repositioning the agency through fresh reforms and innovations.

Akume gave the commendation in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Corps led by its Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, alongside the Executive Director of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Foundation, Saul Billingsley. He said Mohammed had raised the bar since assuming office. “The Corps Marshal has introduced a lot of improvements to the system, and these innovations will be unveiled tomorrow during the lecture. He has done quite a lot and is still doing well for the sector,” Akume stated.

The SGF also commended Billingsley for his global campaigns on road safety, stressing that Nigeria is benefiting from reforms being implemented under the present administration. “Nigeria is wearing a new look because of the efforts being made across the country,” he added.

Earlier, the FRSC Corps Marshal explained that the visit was to brief the SGF on the Corps’ 8th Annual Lecture Series and to present the guest lecturer. He noted that Billingsley’s work has made a lasting impact on road mobility safety and environmental sustainability worldwide.

In his remarks, the FIA Foundation Executive Director pledged continued partnership with governments and civil society to reduce road crashes, save lives, and promote sustainable transport systems.
