Breaking: Federal Government Imposes No-Fly Ban on Kwam1 Over Abuja Airport Incident

On August 7, 2025, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, issued a directive blacklisting celebrated Fuji artist Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, commonly known as K1 de Ultimate (Kwam1), from flying on both domestic and international airlines. This follows an alleged altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, involving airline staff from ValueJet.

Through his X (formerly Twitter) account, the Minister instructed that all airlines be immediately informed of the ban, warning that anyone who disregards the order risks having their operating license revoked.

According to Keyamo, video footage reviewed by aviation authorities shows Kwam1 repeatedly moving around on the tarmac, effectively obstructing an aircraft from taxiing to the runway. He described this behavior as “totally unacceptable,” likening it to a hostage-like situation, and emphasized that whether the substance involved was water or alcohol is irrelevant compared to the physical interference with aircraft operations.

The Minister further criticized the conduct of the flight crew, asserting that it is irresponsible to begin taxiing while an unruly passenger remains in front of the aircraft. He acknowledged the temporary suspension of the captain’s license by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), calling for fair treatment and questioning why only one party was being penalized. “What applies to the goose must also apply to the gander,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to justice.

Kwam1 had been slated to board ValueJet flight VK 201 to Lagos on August 5, 2025.
