Convicted Fake Spiritualist Forfeits Properties, Cars to Victim as EFCC Executes Court Order
By Dr. Nafisat Makinde
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has continued to earn public commendation for its professionalism and transparency in ensuring justice for victims of financial crimes. In a remarkable display of integrity, the Commission enforced a court order returning properties, vehicles, and cash recovered from a convicted fake spiritualist to his victim in Ibadan.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the EFCC handed over three properties, two vehicles, and ₦1.1 million to Mr. Daniel Babatunde Attiogbe, who was defrauded by Fatai Olalere Alli, a self-acclaimed spiritualist popularly known as Baba Abore or Baba Osun. The formal handover took place at the Commission’s Conference Hall in Ibadan.
The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, represented by the Acting Zonal Director of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate, ACE I Hauwa Garba Ringim, said the event reflected the agency’s strict compliance with the rule of law. “Obeying court orders is not optional. This exercise reaffirms our resolve to operate within the law and uphold justice for all victims of fraud,” he stated.
The recovered assets include a five-bedroom duplex with an adjoining three-bedroom bungalow at Kasumu Village, Odo-Ona Elewe; a bungalow containing two three-bedroom flats at Lapiti Layout, Akanran Road, Amuloko; and another three-bedroom bungalow at Idi Ayunre Village, Oluyole Local Government Area — all in Ibadan. Also recovered were a grey Honda Pilot SUV, a Toyota Corolla saloon, and ₦1.1 million in cash.

Attiogbe expressed deep gratitude to the EFCC for its professionalism and commitment to justice. The restitution followed a final forfeiture order granted by Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on November 13, 2024. Alli, who defrauded the victim of over ₦200 million under the guise of performing spiritual cleansing, was convicted and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and ordered to sign an undertaking with the Department of State Services (DSS) to maintain good behaviour.
