The Federal Government has dismissed reports claiming that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is no longer required for admission into tertiary institutions.
Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the publication circulating online as false and misleading, stressing that no such directive ever came from the Federal Ministry of Education.
“For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB remains the legally empowered body responsible for coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” Alausa said in a statement through the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo.
He urged students, parents, and institutions to disregard the false report and rely only on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB. The Ministry, he added, continues to work closely with JAMB to uphold transparency and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary admission system.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fairness and merit in the admission process, warning media outlets against spreading unverified information capable of misleading the public.
