Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has declared that education remains the cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, assuring Nigerians that policies already in place will guarantee wider access and improved standards.
Akume stated this in Abuja on Monday, August 25, when he received a high-powered delegation from the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim (ESOCS), led by its Prelate, His Most Eminence Baba Aladura David Bob-Manuel, during a courtesy visit to mark the church’s centenary.
The SGF highlighted Tinubu’s record as Lagos Governor, recalling that he returned missionary schools to their original owners for more effective management. He also noted that the administration had introduced the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to ensure that “eligible students can obtain loans without interest,” reflecting the President’s commitment to affordable higher education.
Senator Akume commended faith-based organisations for their role in education, healthcare, and peacebuilding. “We will continue to partner with religious bodies to strengthen peaceful co-existence and national development,” he assured.
In his remarks, Prelate David Bob-Manuel congratulated President Tinubu on his election and Akume on his appointment, pledging the church’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We are ready to collaborate with government towards the actualisation of national goals,” he affirmed.
The visit climaxed with the presentation of centenary souvenirs to the SGF and prayers for President Tinubu, the SGF, and the nation, seeking peace, unity, and sustainable development.
