Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike conducted a comprehensive inspection tour of critical infrastructure projects in Abuja on May 28, 2025, ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.

The projects inspected include the International Conference Centre (ICC), Arterial Road N5, and N16 Interchange.

During the inspection, Minister Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, saying, “I am so happy that the contractors have lived up to expectations. The quality of work is superb.” He confirmed that the ICC is fully ready for commissioning, with the contractor having fulfilled their commitments.

The Minister also inspected the Arterial Road N5, which is 95% complete, with the contractor, Julius Berger, assuring that it will be fully ready by the end of next week. “The vital Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) from Life Junction to Ring Road III is 95% complete,” the Minister stated.

Minister Wike emphasized the FCT Administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure and enforcing tax compliance, including ground rent collection. He urged residents to fulfill their civic duty, stating, “People just want facilities, people want infrastructure, but nobody asks where are you getting these funds.” He also warned that the FCTA would not succumb to blackmail, saying, “We will not cave in to blackmail. We will do the right thing.”

The Minister also addressed a recent security incident at Mogadishu Cantonment, clarifying that it was not a suicide bomber, but rather an individual who had taken an explosive device. He reassured residents of Abuja’s safety, stating, “Abuja remains one of the most secure places in the country.” He added, “We will continue to do what we need to do to allay the fears of residents that Abuja is secure.”

The FCT Administration remains focused on delivering these projects as part of broader efforts to enhance Abuja’s infrastructure and aesthetic appeal. With the Minister’s commitment to quality and timely delivery, residents can expect significant improvements in the city’s infrastructure.
