In a stunning display of progress, FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has heaped praise on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “tremendous” and “unprecedented” performance as he marks his second year in office.

During a routine inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects on May 29, 2025, Wike highlighted the remarkable strides made under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to a press statement released by Rabi Musa Umar, Assistant Director, Press (Office of the Hon. Minister), Wike showcased several groundbreaking projects set for commissioning, including the fully completed 15-kilometer OSEX II to Wasa road, connecting Apo and Wasa Districts.

Other projects nearing completion include the Arterial Road N20 interchange across ONEX and the Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) from Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Arterial Road N1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way).
Wike assured that the FCT Administration is committed to delivering world-class infrastructure.

In his words, “From the FCT where I superintend by his mandate, you will know that Mr. President has done very well. It’s unprecedented.” He further stated, “All of us were critics that Abuja has not been working, and now Abuja is working. Who has made it to work? It’s Mr. President.”

Wike also said, “Be rest assured that we are going to put streetlights on that OSEX II, Apo to Wasa.” Additionally, he noted, “The people of Abuja deserve the best, and the contractors are doing their best.”

But Wike didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room – the protracted strike by primary school teachers in the FCT over non-payment of the new minimum wage.

He expressed deep concern, equating the denial of education to “trying to cause a coup in the country or in the FCT”. However, he assured the public that all issues will soon be resolved.

In a call to action, the minister urged residents to fulfill their civic obligations to support ongoing development, emphasizing that residents and the government should work together for the interest of Abuja and the entire nation.
