The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved the purchase of 12 new state-of-the-art ambulances worth ₦1.7 billion and the procurement of fertilizer for farmers to strengthen emergency health response and promote food security across the territory.

The decision was ratified at the Federal Capital Territory Executive Committee (Exco) meeting chaired by the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, at his Life Camp residence in Abuja.

Mandate Secretary for Health, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, said it was the first time in nine years that the FCT would receive a fresh fleet of ambulances built to international standards. She said the vehicles had already been delivered and would soon be commissioned. She added that the ambulances would be fully operational and integrated with the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to improve public access to emergency care.

Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Ango Abdullahi Suleiman, said the procurement of MPK fertilizer was part of ongoing efforts to support farmers, enhance yields, and secure food production in the FCT. He expressed optimism that the intervention would result in better harvests and improved livelihoods for rural communities.

Other approvals announced after the meeting included new access roads to the Old Federal Secretariat in Durumi, procurement of learning materials worth ₦384.8 million for 88 senior secondary schools, and the renovation of the Nyanya Youth Centre to promote skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

The Chief of Staff to the Minister, Hon. Chidi Amadi, also confirmed the approval for treatment chemicals and gas oils for the smooth operation of the Lower Usuma Dam, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to stable water supply in the FCT.
