The Federal Government has announced a review of fees for standard passport applications, effective September 1, 2025, as part of efforts to maintain service quality and integrity.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Abuja by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi. The adjustment applies only to applications processed within Nigeria, while Nigerians living abroad are unaffected.
Under the revised fee structure:
A 32-page passport with five years’ validity will cost N100,000.
A 64-page passport valid for ten years will be issued at N200,000.
Nigerians abroad will continue to pay $150 for five-year passports and $230 for ten-year passports.
ACI AS Akinlabi explained, “The review is aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport, while also ensuring that service delivery remains accessible to citizens.” He emphasized that the adjustment is intended to enhance efficiency, sustain operations, and meet international standards for travel documents.
Citizens planning to apply for passports within Nigeria are advised to make necessary preparations in line with the new fees and validity periods.
