The Federal Government has urged Nigerian youths to seize the ongoing voter registration exercise as a chance to influence national direction and strengthen democracy through active participation.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, made the appeal in Abuja when he received Benue-born recipients of the President’s NYSC Honour Award, led by Simeon Aer.
Akume said the Tinubu administration places a premium on youth welfare and empowerment, stressing that meaningful engagement begins with civic responsibility.
“Your power begins with your voter’s card. Register, participate, and help strengthen democracy,” he said.

He congratulated the honourees for their outstanding service and announced automatic employment for them, assuring that government would continue to reward excellence.
“You have what it takes to be where I am and beyond,” he told the young achievers.
Earlier, delegation leader Simeon Aer said the visit was to appreciate the President for recognizing their contributions. He presented the Female Overall Best NYSC Member (2020–2023), Akase Patience Nguwasen, who thanked President Tinubu for the honour and urged current corps members to value service above personal gain.
The Benue-born honourees are among 200 recipients of the President’s NYSC Honour Award for exceptional national service between 2020 and 2023.
