The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has increased its daily driver’s licence production capacity to 15,000 as part of renewed efforts to clear the backlog of pending applications across the country.
Corps Marshal Mallam Shehu Mohammed disclosed this during an inspection of the VIP Capture Centre at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja. He said the upgrade of production facilities in Abuja and Lagos will ease the long delays faced by applicants in obtaining licences and vehicle number plates.
“The Corps has intensified round-the-clock operations to clear the backlog of driver’s licence production nationwide,” Mohammed said. “Out of the 800,000 backlogged licences, 400,000 have already been printed, with 206,000 yet to be collected by applicants.”
He said the new system will speed up processing, improve data integrity, and enhance transparency in service delivery. The Corps, he added, aims to clear all outstanding licences before the second week of November 2025.
The Corps Marshal commended FRSC personnel working extended hours to meet production targets and urged motorists to collect their printed licences from designated centres. He reaffirmed that the digitization of the Corps’ operations will ensure sustainability and prevent future delays.
