The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced a six-day nationwide Special Sallah Patrol operation to ensure safety on the roads during the Sallah celebrations.

The operation, which kicked off on Thursday, March 27, 2025, involves the deployment of over 34,000 regular and special marshals across the country.
According to the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, “The primary objective of this special patrol is to guarantee the safety of lives and property, while also ensuring hitch-free movement for commuters traveling for Sallah celebrations.”
To achieve this, the Corps Marshal has deployed adequate logistics, including 157 administrative vehicles, 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, 48 tow trucks, and radar guns to monitor speed violations along 53 critical corridors nationwide.
“We have identified critical corridors across the country that are prone to congestion and accidents during the Sallah celebrations. Our men will be on ground to ensure that motorists adhere to traffic rules and regulations,” said Mallam Shehu Mohammed.
The operation will cover critical corridors, including:
- Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi corridor
- Katsina-Kano-Wudil-Dutse-Azare-Potiskum corridor
- Kaduna-Saminaka-Jos corridor
- Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor
- Okene-Ogori-Isua-Owo corridor
- Makurdi-Otukpo-Obollo Afor-9th Mile corridor
- Asaba-Abraka-Ughelli-Warri corridor
- Ibadan-Ogere-Sagamu corridor
- Sagamu-Mowe-Lagos corridor
The Corps Marshal emphasized that enforcement during the operation will focus on addressing excessive speed, overloading, dangerous driving, and other traffic offenses.
“We will not tolerate any form of indiscipline on our roads. Motorists must adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users,” he warned.
In addition to the deployment of logistics and personnel, the Corps Marshal also directed the constitution of Mobile Courts to prosecute offenders during the operation.
“We have collaborated with the judiciary to ensure that offenders are promptly prosecuted and punished according to the law. This will serve as a deterrent to others who may want to flout traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
The operation will run in shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with Night Rescue teams on standby at all operational commands.
The Corps Marshal assured that each command would identify alternative routes to alleviate gridlocks and provide timely notifications of traffic distressed areas for prompt intervention.
The Special Sallah Operation is scheduled to conclude on April 2, 2025.
Motorists are advised to cooperate with FRSC personnel and adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users.
