In the early hours of 20th November 2025, a brazen kidnapping attempt in Guto Village, Bwari, was brought to a dramatic halt by the swift action of FCT Police forces. Around 1:10 a.m., armed assailants, estimated at 30, stormed the community targeting a resident and his family.
Responding immediately, the Bwari Division’s Surveillance Team, together with the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS), confronted the attackers. A fierce gun duel erupted, leaving two assailants neutralized while the rest fled into the surrounding bushlands.

Tragically, one Police officer paid the ultimate price during the confrontation, succumbing to a gunshot wound at Bwari General Hospital. “The Command deeply regrets this loss,” said SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, “as the officer sacrificed his life in the line of duty.”
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye psc., has since deployed additional personnel to restore security and ordered a detailed investigation to ensure all perpetrators are apprehended.
Normalcy has returned to Guto Village, but the memory of the fallen officer and the bravery displayed by the Police team continues to resonate across the community.
