The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday decorated newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the decoration ceremony, held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, reflects the IGP’s ongoing reforms to promote professionalism, fairness, and accountability within the Force.
The exercise marked another milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s effort to reward merit and excellence. It saw the elevation of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General, four Commissioners of Police to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners to substantive Commissioners of Police.

Egbetokun commended the officers for their commitment and described the promotion as both recognition and responsibility. “This promotion is not just a recognition of your efforts but also a call to higher responsibility,” he said. “As leaders, you must uphold the ethics of this noble profession, lead by example, and strengthen public trust through integrity and fairness.”
He emphasized that the promotions followed a rigorous and transparent process conducted by the Police Service Commission, involving written examinations and interviews. “We are determined to build a police force that is professional, accountable, and responsive to the security needs of Nigerians,” he added.
The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and career progression of officers, stressing that future promotions will continue to be based on merit, performance, and integrity. Those promoted include DIG Mohammed Dankwara, AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen, as well as CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal.
