The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late FCT Head of Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, who passed away on September 1, 2025, describing her as a woman of rare service and faith whose sudden death shocked the entire Administration.

With emotions running high, the Minister pledged that the FCT Administration would stand firmly by her family. He announced that the government would cover all burial expenses and provide employment opportunities for her children if needed. “Money cannot replace her, but we must do what is necessary. If her children are not working, we will immediately take up that responsibility,” Wike assured.

Wike recalled how Mrs. Adayilo’s reputation for diligence and integrity earned her the recommendation for Head of Service, a role she carried with distinction until her passing. “Since I started working with her, I had no cause for complaint,” he said. He revealed that he had personally sought a tenure extension for her from the President, but destiny intervened. “I thought I was going to enjoy that; I didn’t know that death had other plans. But God knows best.”

Responding on behalf of the family, Bishop Jonathan expressed deep appreciation for the Minister’s visit and support. He described the late Mrs. Adayilo as “a true mother and philanthropist, affectionately known as Mama Africa,” for her tireless work mentoring orphans and widows. “Her death has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” he said.

He also praised Wike’s leadership in the FCT, noting the impact of his developmental programs. “This is the first time we are truly feeling the impact of governance in the FCT,” he remarked.

The Minister later signed the condolence register and joined the family in prayers for the repose of Mrs. Adayilo’s soul, while reaffirming the FCT Administration’s commitment to supporting her loved ones.
