The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Planning Committee for the 70th Anniversary Celebration embarked on a nationwide tour to seek support from notable media houses. The team, led by the Committee Chairman and NUJ Deputy President, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, visited TVC, Trust Media Group, and Arise Television on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
During the visits, Dr. Oyetunde commended the media houses for their contributions to the industry and support for NUJ. She emphasized that the 70th Anniversary celebration would be monumental, honoring past heroes of the Union and deserving individuals and corporate organizations.
“The NUJ has come a long way in the struggle to have a better society and a greater country, Nigeria,” Dr. Oyetunde stated. “Journalists in Nigeria have lived up to expectations in contributing to the growth of the society.”
The NUJ Deputy President appealed to the leadership of the media outfits to ensure the anniversary’s success through robust publicity. The management of the visited media houses thanked the NUJ@70 Anniversary Planning Committee for the visits and promised to provide good coverage for the historic event.
The NUJ@70 visiting team includes Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, Otunba Gbenga Onayiga, Chairman, NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, and Assistant National Secretary, Comrade Tita Onyebuchi Nze. The NUJ@70 event is scheduled for June 21, 2025.
