FCT Welcomes Its 34th Police Chief, CP Dantawaye Miller

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Dantawaye Miller, psc, as its 34th Commissioner of Police. He took over from CP Ajao S. Adewale, who has been redeployed for another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
The brief handover ceremony held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Abuja, marked a new phase in the security leadership of Nigeria’s capital.
CP Miller, a seasoned officer with over two decades of service, pledged to strengthen existing security frameworks, enhance community partnerships, and reinforce public trust in policing.
“Our mission is clear: to secure the Federal Capital Territory through collaboration, professionalism, and accountability,” CP Miller said during the assumption ceremony. “We will build on the solid foundations already laid and ensure residents feel safe wherever they live or work.”
Before his posting to the FCT, CP Miller served as Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, and previously held key roles including Assistant Commissioner (Operations) in FCT, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) in Yobe and Edo States, and Commanding Officer, MOPOL 24, Presidential Villa.
Known for his disciplined leadership and reform-minded approach, CP Miller holds degrees in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Ilorin, alongside professional training in counter-terrorism, leadership, and VVIP protection.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, urged residents to support the new commissioner’s community safety drive.
“Security is a shared responsibility. The Command counts on the cooperation of residents to maintain peace and order across the FCT,” Adeh said.
