The Commander General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of Forest Guards in the country. According to Dr. Osatimehin, the move will significantly enhance effective security in the nation’s forested regions. Speaking in Abuja on May 16, 2025, Dr. Osatimehin expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the President for this positive step towards strengthening internal security.
“Honestly, I want to seriously thank and commend President Bola Tinubu for giving approval to the establishment of Forest Guards because the move would further strengthen the internal security of our country, Nigeria,” Dr. Osatimehin stated.
The establishment of the Forest Guards will go a long way in actualizing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the area of security. The NFSS has been in existence for about ten years, operating in all 36 states and 774 local government areas nationwide.
“The Nigeria Forest Security Service has been in existence for about ten years now and we’re fully on ground in the 36 States of the Federation and the 774 Local Government Areas nationwide,” Dr. Osatimehin explained.
Dr. Osatimehin stated that the NFSS has put in place necessary structures towards realizing the President’s objectives on the establishment of the Forest Guards. The organization is committed to complementing the efforts of formal security agencies in combating insecurity in the country.
“We’re ever ready to continue to compliment the efforts of formal security agencies towards actualizing President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda in the area of security,” Dr. Osatimehin said.
The NFSS is seeking the support of all stakeholders to ensure the success of the Forest Guards initiative. With the President’s approval, the organization is poised to make a significant impact in enhancing security and promoting stability in the nation’s forested regions.
“I want to appeal to all stakeholders to be committed to actualizing the objectives of Mr President’s approval on the Forest Guards,” Dr. Osatimehin urged.
