President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday announced that Nigeria met its 2025 revenue target ahead of schedule, with the bulk of collections driven by the non-oil sector. Speaking at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, he described the achievement in August as proof that ongoing reforms were stabilising the economy.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the economy was now firmly on track. “The economy is now stabilised. Nobody is trading pieces of paper for forex anymore. The economy is now predictable. You do not need to know the CBN Governor to obtain foreign exchange or import goods,” he explained while receiving a delegation of founding members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and The Buhari Organisation, led by former Nasarawa Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Tinubu said the administration’s next priority is boosting agriculture through mechanisation centres to be established in all six regions. He explained that the initiative would expand cultivation, increase harvests, and guarantee food sovereignty. “We are going to have trainees. That programme is our path to food sovereignty,” he assured.

The President also pledged to sustain the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari by immortalising him with a “Buhari House,” while promising CPC loyalists greater participation in government. “Thank you for believing in me. When I see people like you, I am determined to work harder,” he told the delegation.

In response, Al-Makura reaffirmed the group’s loyalty and commitment to APC’s success in 2027, while Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, praised Tinubu’s broadmindedness in accommodating political stakeholders. The former Nasarawa Governor also thanked the President for what he described as a befitting state burial for Buhari, assuring that CPC members remain fully behind the administration.
