Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled a digital empowerment drive to train over 1,000 youths in cybersecurity and digital forensics through the Renewed Hope Initiative in Nasarawa State.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Digital Learning Centre in Lafia on Wednesday, October 23, 2025, Mrs. Tinubu said the programme would run weekly until December 2026, equipping young Nigerians with critical skills to tackle cybercrime, drive innovation, and foster self-reliance.
She explained that the training aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of creating a digitally literate generation capable of competing globally. “We want our youths to become creators, not victims, in the digital economy,” the First Lady said.
The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, described the initiative as a cornerstone of the administration’s digital transformation agenda. He disclosed plans to establish 148 additional digital learning centres nationwide.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency, Sani Haruna Sani, said the Lafia centre would serve as a hub for cybersecurity education, digital forensics, and data protection training. He urged youths to seize the opportunity to acquire globally relevant skills.
The programme marks a major step in bridging Nigeria’s digital divide, positioning young people at the heart of innovation, safety, and sustainable growth in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
