President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the redeployment and appointment of senior officials in two strategic agencies to enhance transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery. The appointments were announced on Monday, 18 November 2025, by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar, formerly Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been redeployed as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI). He is tasked with bringing his experience and expertise to strengthen oversight and governance in the extractive sector.

In turn, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, CFR, has been appointed Chairman of NIWA, replacing Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar. Both appointments take immediate effect, signaling the administration’s commitment to efficient leadership in key agencies.

President Tinubu urged the newly appointed and redeployed officials to demonstrate patriotism and professional excellence in their respective roles. “I expect all officials to bring their wealth of experience to bear in strengthening transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery within their agencies,” he said.

Officials from the SGF-led administration noted that these leadership changes are part of a broader strategy to ensure that strategic agencies operate at the highest standards of governance and serve the public efficiently.

The appointments underscore the president’s focus on placing experienced and capable professionals in positions that are critical to advancing Nigeria’s development agenda and ensuring accountability in strategic sectors.
