The Senate will on Thursday, October 16, 2025, screen Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nominee for Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary, Research and Information, the exercise will take place at the Senate Chamber, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The nomination of Amupitan follows the expiration of tenure of the outgoing INEC leadership, with expectations that the new chair will oversee crucial electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Members of the Senate Press Corps have been directed to provide full media coverage, while television stations are encouraged to broadcast the session live for public transparency.
The Directorate of Information commended media organisations for their continued cooperation and professionalism in covering the activities of the National Assembly.
