President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 59th birthday, describing him as a loyal partner, dependable deputy, and a leader whose service to Nigeria has remained exemplary.
In a statement issued by the State House on Tuesday, President Tinubu said the Vice President has consistently demonstrated courage, duty, and tenacity in both public and private service, adding that his faith in Nigeria’s greatness has never wavered.
“Since we embarked on this journey, united by the shared vision of building a more prosperous nation, your courage, sense of duty, tenacity, determination, and belief in Nigeria’s greatness have remained unshaken,” Tinubu said.
Recalling Shettima’s tenure as Governor of Borno State and later Senator for Borno Central, the President noted that he distinguished himself by showing that “leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges.”
Tinubu further described the Vice President’s role in government as indispensable, stressing that his loyalty, vibrancy, and competence have strengthened the administration’s delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“In choosing you as a partner, I selected competence and other qualities that Nigeria could depend on. Every day, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians,” he said.
Highlighting Shettima’s contributions to international diplomacy and domestic reforms, Tinubu said the Vice President has been central to efforts to attract global partnerships, enhance food security, and drive economic reforms.
“Our relationship transcends official duties. It is a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service. You remind us of what is possible when Nigeria comes first — an example worthy of emulation by those who aspire to lead,” the President added.
While wishing the Vice President renewed vitality and wisdom, Tinubu expressed confidence that their partnership will continue to yield results that Nigerians can see and feel.
“Happy birthday, Kashim, and many happy returns,” Tinubu concluded.
