President tasks new team on innovation, revival of state broadcaster
By Dr. Nafisat Makinde
In a decisive move to rejuvenate Nigeria’s oldest broadcast institution, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a sweeping change in the management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), appointing seasoned media and business professionals to key leadership positions.
Leading the new team is Rotimi Pedro, a prominent media entrepreneur from the South-West, who assumes office as the new Director-General. His appointment signals what insiders describe as a shift toward innovation and a push to reclaim NTA’s lost relevance in the digital age.
Other members of the reconstituted management include:
Karimah Bello (North-West) as Executive Director, Marketing
Stella Din Jacob (North-Central) as Executive Director, News
Sophia Essahmed (North-East) as Managing Director, NTA Enterprises Limited

The President urged the new executives to “work as a team in repositioning and revitalizing the Nigerian Television Authority by infusing new innovations for effective service delivery.”
The appointments, announced on August 22, 2025 by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, come at a time when NTA faces stiff competition from private broadcasters and digital platforms. Observers see the overhaul as part of Tinubu’s broader media reforms aimed at restoring credibility and reach to the state-owned broadcaster.
