Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to urban renewal and economic revitalization in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the President commissioned the newly constructed Collector Road CN-8, also known as Asuquo Okon Way, and other connected roads in the Dakibiyu District of Abuja.

The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in building a modern city that inspires confidence, attracts investment, and restores the dignity of its citizens. “There is no louder proof of a government’s seriousness than the modernization of its cities. When a city works, when the roads are paved, when its lights are on, and when its traffic flows smoothly, it tells the world that its government is not just present but purposeful.”

The President described infrastructure as not just concrete and steel but the most persuasive advertisement of leadership, order, and vision. He added that a modern city inspires confidence, attracts investment, and most importantly, restores the dignity of those who call it home.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support for infrastructure development in the FCT. The Minister highlighted the transformation of the Dakibiyu District, which previously had terrible roads, and thanked the President for his continued support.

The newly commissioned roads are expected to ease congestion, improve access to markets and schools, and boost emergency response times. The project is part of the FCT Administration’s broader urban renewal and infrastructure agenda.

In her vote of thanks, The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, said that the commissioning of the Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) and other connecting roads in Dakibiyu District was another milestone in the FCTA’s journey toward building a more connected, efficient, and inclusive capital city.

Executive Secretary FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, noted that the newly completed infrastructure represents a significant milestone in the ongoing execution of the FCT Master Plan. The project was designed to improve connectivity and support future developments across key districts in the Federal Capital City.
