In a strategic move to strengthen security and promote development in Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, while hosting the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and his Principal Officers on a high-level courtesy visit, welcomed the Nigerian Army’s decision to relocate the Special Forces Training School to Doma Local Government Area.
Governor Sule described the relocation as a “major leap forward” for the state’s security architecture and a clear vote of confidence in its stability and growing importance. He expressed optimism that the presence of the elite Special Forces unit would enhance rapid response to threats in the North-Central region and deepen cooperation between the military and the civilian population.
“This is a strong statement by the Nigerian Army and a step that aligns with our vision to make Nasarawa a hub of peace, investment, and national service,” the governor said.
Lt. Gen. Oluyede, in his remarks, highlighted Nasarawa’s strategic relevance in Nigeria’s security framework. He noted that its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory, relatively peaceful environment, and supportive governance made it an ideal choice for the relocation. “This move is more than just a structural shift; it is a strategic investment in the future of security and professionalism in the Nigerian Army,” he declared.
The Army Chief further disclosed plans for a Foundation Laying Ceremony at the new headquarters site in Doma, expected to attract senior military officers, government officials, and security stakeholders — underscoring the project’s national importance.
Beyond its security benefits, the relocation is expected to stimulate economic and infrastructural growth in Nasarawa. With an expanded military presence, residents anticipate improved road networks, enhanced social amenities, and increased job opportunities, placing the state on the map not only as a gateway to the capital but also as a new center for elite military training and regional stability.
