Nigeria’s first-ever International Airshow will hold in Abuja this December following a partnership between the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The agreement was sealed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, when FCT Minister Nyesom Wike received Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and his team at his office in Abuja.

Wike described the event as a major opportunity to showcase the capital city and attract global aviation investors. He pledged the FCTA’s full support, promising transportation logistics, security coordination, and city sanitation for the smooth hosting of delegates and exhibitors.

“We will do everything possible to see that it is a huge success,” Wike assured, noting that train services and CNG buses will be deployed for visitors and diplomats.

He said the FCTA would also provide publicity support through its media channels and ensure compliance with outdoor advertising regulations. The Minister further announced a discount on the use of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre, which will serve as one of the venues.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said the airshow would mark 100 years of aviation in Nigeria and would bring together global industry leaders to display aircraft and technology innovations.

“Around the world, a major aviation event on most countries’ calendars is their air show. We have the Farnborough Airshow, the Paris Air Show. We have never had one in our history,” he said, confirming that the event is being organized in partnership with a private company and supported by the Nigerian Air Force.

Keyamo invited Wike to serve as Chief Host alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the opening ceremony.

Officials say the Abuja Airshow will not only position Nigeria as a key aviation hub in West Africa but also strengthen investor confidence in the country’s growing aerospace and tourism sectors.
